With the Derby della Lanterna between Sampdoria and Genoa approaching this Saturday, follow us down memory lane as we celebrate the historic protagonists of this epic Serie A fixture.
Starting from the 1990s, our first Sketch of this three-part series depicts Gianluca Vialli (Samp) and Tomáš Skuhravý (Genoa). Alongside many other greats, such as Stefano Eranio and Gianluca Signorini for il Grifone, and Roberto Mancini and Pietro Vierchowod for the Blucerchiati, these two were key figures, and goal-scorers, for the Genoan clubs.
Netting heaps of goals across the late 1980s and early 90s’, Vialli and Skuhravý are part of the city’s folklore, and both sets of supporters remain in hope that the players of today can repeat their exploits.
