Welcome to the first in a new podcast series for The Gentleman Ultra.
TGU will dissect some of the greatest games in Serie A history, and we felt there was no better game to start than this all-time classic between Inter and Sampdoria from May 1991.
Sampdoria were on the verge of winning an historic first Scudetto, but had to travel to Giovanni Trapattoni’s Inter side with four games remaining. Inter, who were second going into the game, knew a loss what mean the end of their own title aspirations.
What transpired over the course of the next 90 minutes is one of the greatest matches seen in the last 30 years, in any league.
Richard Hall and Emmet Gates are joined by special guest Rob Smyth of The Guardian. Rob helps us to break down the game, and explains why indeed the match stands out as one of the best in Italian football history.
